Quitter iPhone App Review

If I was a smoker I think the best thing to help me quit would be to have a reminder of how much it is costing me in my hands all day. That is what Quitter is, it shows you how long it has been since you last smoked and how much you have saved since. Now that is rewarding!

Page Once (A Personal Assistant) iPhone App Review
July 30, 2008 by Jerad Hill
PageOnce brings you iOnce which is confusing. iOnce is the name they call their app, though its called “A Personal Assistant” but the website is called PageOnce. Whatever guys. Anyhow, it’s an app that brings together thousands of providers information into once place. Your finance, utilities, travel, shopping, email and social networks in once place. It shows limited information about each so you can keep up with the speed your life is currently going at.

How would you like to know what the rest of the world is charging for a product before you purchase it? This app gives you that ability. So you are standing in Best Buy looking at a iPod Case and you are wondering if you could get it somewhere else cheaper. This app allows you to search for that product, view prices and order the item, all from your iPhone.

G-Park iPhone App Review in the WILD!

The other day I tested G-Park in the wild. I parked in a parking garage while I went to lunch and got my hair cut. G-Park helped me find my truck. Truth is I knew where it was anyway, but G-Park was pretty darn accurate. If you are prone to forgetting where you parked, then you need this app. It’s pretty darn cool

iPhone App Podcast almost killed my server

Here you can see how my server was doing overall for the month. Notice how it went crazy toward the end. I had to add some RAM the other day because it was getting a little slow. I host with Liquidweb which is the best hosting company I have ever used.

Here you can see how today went. I switched over to an Amazon S3 account to serve the media. The iPAP website is still hosted on my server.

Notice how it drops off drastically. That was the hour that I uploaded the new feed that pointed everything at Amazon S3.

So even though I am saving my server from a slow and painful death I am putting that upon my credit card in the form of Amazon. I hope to get some sponsors soon, maybe a web host, that would make a great sponsor.
The App came back, the very next day…

So simply deleting an app from your iphone is not enough. If you delete an app by clicking on the “x” you would assume the app was gone being that the phone asks you if you would like to delete that app. I deleted 4 apps yesterday from my iPhone. I just plugged it in to sync as I wanted to get some new podcasts to listen to at the gym in a few mins. The first thing the iPhone does is reinstall those apps. It has done this to me before but I didn’t really pay attention, nor care at the time. It is rather frustrating though that you have to go into iTunes and remove the apps as well. Make sure that you delete them completely from your iTunes Applications library or they will be reinstalled back onto your iPhone. It seems that your iTunes Library takes precedence over what is on your iPhone. It does not yet sync as nicely as Mobile Me does.
These apps not going away reminded me of this video and song from my childhood.
My 3G has horrible battery life
July 23, 2008 by Jerad Hill

I’m using the new Wordpress iPhone App to blog about how horrible the battery life is on my 16GB 3G. It won’t last but 3/4 of the day. I have cut back on my Twitter usage when I am out and about to prolong the life. My first gen iPhone’s battery would last 2 days sometime longer.
Anybody else experiencing short battery life?
