Have you upgraded to 2.2?

I just ran the upgrade to 2.2 and so far I love it. Google street view is fun and a good time wasting feature. I keep clicking on my contacts addresses and looking up their houses on Street View.
Being able to check out podcasts with in iTunes is something I am so glad they now have. Now I do not have to worry about syncing my iphone so often.
As a matter of fact, you can subscribe to the iPhone App Podcast from your iPhone and get all of the latest reviews.
We are currently ranked #28 and I would love to make it back up to the top. With your help I can do that. There is no cost to subscribe. It’s free!

I like the fact that you can now share location through email but I think through text message would be a better option.
Several other fixes to slightly annoying problems were also made to the iPhone.
What are your thoughts so far about the 2.2 update? What would you like to see in 2.3?
AT&T is worried about tethered iPhone to Laptop Internet Access
November 12, 2008 by Jerad Hill

I just read an article written by an AT&T employee about the companies thoughts and potential plans for allowing iPhone to tether to a laptop thus providing it with an internet connection.
Apparently AT&T does not have enough faith in their 3G network. As unstable as it has been in the past they are afraid that if millions of iPhone users started connecting to the internet through their iPhone on their laptop, their network would suffer drastically. Apparently people like me who are willing to pay $50 for an unlimited bandwidth USB card for my laptop are ok. From what I have been reading, they are extremely scared of the legalities that could be involved with offering a service they are not sure they can handle.
Here is the info I have been able to find so far. To be honest I am not really surprised that the service will look like this. I may just end up activating a new iPhone so I can jailbreak it and tether my phone with no additional costs.
• 5GB Data Cap (just like Blackberry users) - AT&T will automatically turn off your tethering connection if you use too much bandwidth. Of note, the 5GB cap might get sliced for all users, not just iPhone users, in order to accommodate all new tethering plan customers (bandwidth demand).
• Initial connection through iTunes? (not sure if this is every time you connect, or just for initial setup)
• Expected speeds: GPRS: 30k - dialup speeds / EDGE: 110k - ISDN speeds / 3G: 1000k - slow broadband.
• You’ll want to disable auto-updates for everything, so as to not go over usage limitations.
• Will be +$30/month, new iPhone plans may be rolled out with tethering rolled in.
• Do not pro-rate tethering/bandwidth, it can become a nightmare, instead wait until new billing cycle.
• For unlimited bandwidth, AT&T will tell you to get a wireless PC card.
• No idea on a launch date.
Have any thoughts or news on the topic of tethering your phone to your laptop for an internet connection?

Apple drops its Developer Non Disclosure Agreement
October 1, 2008 by Jerad Hill

Big news for App Developers. Apple drops it’s Developer Non Disclosure Agreement. The NDL has received a lot of bad press and has really limited many developers. Many will be happy to hear of this news.
To Our Developers
We have decided to drop the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for released iPhone software.
We put the NDA in place because the iPhone OS includes many Apple inventions and innovations that we would like to protect, so that others don’t steal our work. It has happened before. While we have filed for hundreds of patents on iPhone technology, the NDA added yet another level of protection. We put it in place as one more way to help protect the iPhone from being ripped off by others.
However, the NDA has created too much of a burden on developers, authors and others interested in helping further the iPhone’s success, so we are dropping it for released software. Developers will receive a new agreement without an NDA covering released software within a week or so. Please note that unreleased software and features will remain under NDA until they are released.
Thanks to everyone who provided us constructive feedback on this matter.
